U2 360 Degree World Tour Dates 2009Irish Rock Band Announce Concerts in Europe and the USAIrish rockers U2 have announced an extensive tour of Europe and North America. The show will visit 14 European cities followed by 16 cities in the US and Canada.
U2 concerts have set the standard for technological innovation and showmanship over their career and this tour promises to maintain that tradition. As the tour name suggests, the stage is designed around a 360 degree concept providing uninterrupted viewing for the entire audience. The tour, U2’s first stadium tour since the Vertigo tour three years ago promotes their latest album, ‘No Line on the Horizon’, which was released at the beginning of March. ‘No Line on the Horizon’ is U2’s twelfth studio album and the first since, ‘How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb’ in 2004. Early Album Release and PiracyU2’s record company made concerted efforts to keep the album secret until release. Music press were invited to private listening sessions rather than the usual practice of issuing review copies to journalists. Despite this, there were several early release scares. In one incident, Bono is reported to have been playing the album in a house at the resort of Eze-sur-Mer near Nice. A fan, realising that this was new material, recorded four tracks on his mobile phone and released them on YouTube. The recordings, which were of poor quality, were removed from the site under copyright infringement laws. Less maliciously, but more damaging, was the February release of the commercial quality album for download sales by an Australian website GetMusic.com.au, a subsidiary of Universal Music, who release U2’s music. Again, this was quickly removed, but some sales had been made. U2 tickets are on sale for the tour which begins in June and runs until the end of October. U2 EuropeanTour Dates
