There’s some speculation over the feminine name for a band of three blokes, deliberately fuelled by the boys themselves. One story has it they’re named after the film ‘Hang onto your scarf, Tatiana’, another that they took it from a slang word for prostitutes.
Key players on the Paris underground scene since 2005, they have also featured in the film ‘Apres Lui’ with Catherine Deneuve. The French fashion press have become enamoured of the Tatianas, and they have been featured in various publications and other media.
Single Release: I’m a Swine
Pierre, Timothee and Lois finally release their first single after attracting a cult following that includes producer Ludvig Andersson.
‘I’m a Swine’ is a perfect showcase for Pierre’s clear vocals, with a strong opening riff. It’s possible to detect both punk and rockabilly sensibilities blended into the track, energetic and catchy. The tempo is upbeat yet the lyrics pessimistic, with the refrain ‘anyway, you know I’m a swine/ anyway, you know you’re wasting your time’.
The single also features the ‘B side’ track ‘Night is My Confidante’, a deceptively insidious track conjuring up small, smoky, dingy yet atmospheric cabaret clubs, playing to the last lingerers in the pre-dawn hours.
Debut Album: Verses and Verve
The long awaited album will also be on release in January, recorded this summer at the renowned Mono Music studios in Stockholm, Sweden.
On Tour: What to Expect in Concert
The Tatianas have played in concert supporting bands like Razorlight and Dirty Pretty Things. They also featured at this year’s Rock en Seine summer festival, Paris’ answer to Reading/Leeds and were well received.
Currently on a mini tour including UK dates in Manchester and London, they are charismatic and mellow yet with an underlying force.
