Depeche Mode fans delight with the release of the band's 12th album, Sounds of The Universe, along with concert tickets to its worldwide tour.
Titled “Tour of The Universe 2009,” it will be Depeche Mode's first stadium tour. Performing in 28 cities across 21 countries throughout Europe, the tour begins on May 10, 2009 at the National Stadium in Israel. The buildup to the April 20, 2009 album release and tour includes release of the first single, titled Wrong, on April 6, 2009. Depeche Mode formed in 1980 in Basildon, England and are one of the most enduring, celebrated and pioneering groups born of the New Wave music era. In the U.K., Depeche Mode has enjoyed 45 songs in the singles charts and two number one albums as well as a number one album in the United States. Just Can't Get Enough, Policy of Truth, People Are People Group’s Biggest Hits Album sales by Depeche Mode have topped more than 75 million worldwide, according to label EMI on its website, emigroup.com. Its hits have included Just Can't Get Enough, Policy of Truth and People Are People and their 11 studio albums have generated famously black-dressed fans, many of whom travel to the group’s shows wearing black clothing as a tribute to their devotion. The new album by Depeche Mode marks a reunion between the band and producer Ben Hillier, who previously produced its 2005 hit album Playing The Angel. Recording for Sounds of The Universe was split between a studio in Santa Barbara near Martin Gore’s home and New York. The track listing is:

David Gahan said the tracks find inspiration from the hopeful times with President Barak Obama taking office in the U.S. and some new, old musical equipment from the 1970s and 1980s. Martin Gore snapped up as much analog equipment as possible on eBay for use on this album. Martin Gore told Rolling Stone during a November 20, 2008 interview that the songs have a “spiritual feel.” The spirit of Depeche Mode as an 80's band returns with it new album release in 2009. Its plans for a groundbreaking stadium tour, “Tour of the Universe,” means that the group’s popularity will continue spanning generations.
