Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eminem, Jimmy Page, and Ronnie Wood are among the artists inducting the 2009 entries to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum hosts a spring induction ceremony to honor its best. In 2009, the ceremony happens in the museum’s home location in Cleveland, Ohio after nearly a decade’s absence.

The 2009 Performer inductees are Jeff Beck, Little Anthony & the Imperials, Metallica, Run-D.M.C. and Bobby Womack. The sole Early Influence category Inductee is Wanda Jackson while the Sidemen category inductees are Bill Black, DJ Fontana and Spooner Oldham.

Performer inductees were chosen by the 600 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. Artists are eligible 25 years after the release of their first recording.

Each inducted artist becomes monumental at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum through an exhibit and film detailing their rise to fame and influence on modern music.

Eminem, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jimmy Page, Ronnie Wood Welcome Inductees

For 2009, Eminem inducts rap legends Run-DMC and Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers welcomes heavy metal icons Metallica.

One Yardbird inducts another as Jimmy Page tips his hat to former band mate and fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jeff Beck. Beck takes the inductee honor for the second time after his debut as a hall of fame artist with the Yardbirds in 1992.

Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood welcomes to the Hall of Fame rhythm and blues singer-guitarist Bobby Womack while Smokey Robinson inducts Little Anthony & the Imperials.

Liberal doses of controversy surround several Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. In 2008, while inducting Madonna, Justin Timberlake joked about ex-fiancé, Britney Spears. At the time, Spears was undergoing treatment for mental health issues.

Madonna churned her own controversy while accepting the honor. She called the audience “motherf--ckers,” told a story about sharing drugs with a record executive early in her career and mocked Michael Jackson’s high-pitched voice.

Rock Artists Celebrate Music at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction

In 2003, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler inducted rock greats AC/DC by igniting the passion of the band’s hardcore fans, telling the audience that AC/DC became the litmus test of rock and roll itself.

“Does it make you clench your fist when you sing along? Does it scare your parents to hell and piss off the neighbors? Does it make you dance so close to the fire that you burn your feet, and still don't give a rat's ass? If it doesn't, then it ain't AC/DC!"

Kid Rock was in awe of Lynyrd Skynyrd in 2006 when he inducted the band and said: "There's been over 25 members in this f---*in' band, alright? They had more members than the frickin' YMCA, you know what I mean?"

Van Halen stirred controversy in 2007 when the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame drew the anger of frontman David Lee Roth. Officials decided that Velvet Revolver should perform Van Halen songs at the ceremony instead of the current version of the band itself. In the end, many of the band’s members skipped the ceremony in protest.

However, the top honors for stirring controversy likely goes to punk bad boys the Sex Pistols who boycotted their induction ceremony, instead sending a rejection letter that oozed pure punk attitude.

The letter was read at the event: "Next to the Sex Pistols, rock and roll and that hall of fame is a piss stain. You're a museum. Urine is wine. We're not coming."

Rock and roll’s signature artists step up to induct 2009 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, creating musical moments that stand in tribute to those the musical genre seeks to honor.

Since Red Hot Chili Peppers has been nominated as well as the
Beastie Boys last year, it only makes sense that uber-producer, Rick Rubin gets his props. What amazing contributions he has made. Happy for the Peppers! Can't wait until their next album.
